About Us
Disclaimer: Please keep in mind that Eating Brooklyn is a site designed for entertainment purposes only. While this website has been set up to express our personal opinions on certain businesses and experiences within our local area, it is not meant to cause any business or person financial or personal harm and our opinion is not necessarily a reflection of the establishment / person in question.
Formed in January 2009, Eating Brooklyn is your new restaurant resource for the local area. We’ll hook you up with reviews and news on some of the tastiest (and not so tasty) dining establishments out there. With all of Brooklyn to play with, we should have no problem keeping our dining options open.
About our Writers:
Mark Levine, Publisher:
Mark, along with his wife Amanda, began East of NYC (Eating South Florida, Eating Long Island and Eating Brooklyn’s sister-site) back in 2006. Initially hoping to capitalize on the lack of quality information for the local area, he started the site as a way to show all of the residents and visitors to Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island what great unique restaurants, events and shops there are on this side of the city. Mark currently serves as the editor and creative director of both East of NYC and Eating Long Island, recently transforming the site from a static directory of local hotspots to a continually evolving guide.
Mark will fill you in on all of the great meals, new additions, closings, great deals and more. In addition to writing for East of NYC and Eating Long Island, Mark also spent a year writing The Red Zone in Long Island Pulse Magazine. You can e-mail Mark directly by clicking here.

Holly Rayna Raub, Correspondent – vegetarian and gluten-free
Holly Rayna Raub is the rare breed of vegetarians that are indigenous to the Beef Capital of the World aka Texas. A New Yorker at heart she made her way to Park Slope via a 2000 mile road trip through the fast food heartland with the aid of protein bars and iced tea. She has a very particular palate honed by vegetarianism and a gluten allergy. She’s explored the underbelly of the culinary world – alternative meat, grain, and sugar sources – and has lived to tell about it although a little scarred by some bitterly scary stevia experiences. She’s never passed a health food store where she could withstand the magnetic pull and gets a little weak in the knees for carob goodies. Despite her dietary limitations she prefers to eat at “regular” restaurants and prefers white table cloths to wheat grass trays. And she is always on a mission to find fabulous haunts where she can enjoy a delicious meal alongside her carnivorous friends and family. Holly is currently the editor-in-chief for Eating Brooklyn’s sister site, Eating Manhattan.
Andrea Margulies, Correspondent
Andrea Margulies lives in Williamsburg. Little did she know, upon moving to the BK, she had moved into a serious old school Italian neighborhood with a handful of serious old school Italian joints. Now, thats fate. She love all things food…reading about food, writing about food, cooking food, eating food and talking about food in ways that most would deem, at the very least, “over the top.” Trying new restaurants is one of her great joys in life, and she has been known to ask whats for dinner before even having breakfast.
She is turning 30 this Summer, and having some issues with it, but luckily she eats when stressed.
Kelly McMahon, Correspondent
Kelly McMahon is an Atlanta native, currently residing in Brooklyn New York. While she still loves all things Southern, she loves sampling dishes from all over the world (with an admitted bias towards Asian cuisine). As a college student, she focuses on restaurants that are affordable without sacrificing quality.
Katarina Maloney, Correspondent

Katarina Maloney just returned back to NYC after a “food and wine odyssey” where she first learned how to make farmstead cheese with Jasper Hill in Vermont then jumped the pond over to Europe where she learned how to make wine with various biodynamic and organic producers in Italy, France, and Spain. All of the adventures can be read on her blog, MakeWineAndCheeseWithMe.com. When she’s not day dreaming about what to make for dinner, she works in Food and Wine PR and is also part of the Supper Club, Hapa Kitchen.
Eric Buscemi, Correspondent

Eric Buscemi is a Queens, NY native that has been in the journalism field for over five years. By day, he is the Senior Editor of the financial news site Theflyonthewall.com, as well as a contributer to AOL’s BloggingStocks.com. By night, he prefers to write about topics he finds more interesting, like the array of amazing eateries in the Metropolitan area.
