It’s a seldom occurrence that I find myself in Williamsburg – usually once, maybe twice a month.  The majority of the time I come to socialize, but not to eat.  Last night I met Kristina on Bedford Ave about an hour or so before we had to be somewhere, and we were both hungry.  “Let’s just walk down Bedford and see what looks good,” I said.

We didn’t walk far before we saw Tai Thai, which I had initially read as Thai Thai – hence the post title.  We looked at the menu – cheap, simple, and they listed the calories.  Works for me.

We were seated quickly – the restaurant was fairly empty at 6:30 PM.  The menu, however was crowded with an array of the usual suspects – curries, Pad Thai, satay, etc as well as some more traditional Thai dishes and chef specialties.

I ordered a Tiger Lager, and Kristina got a Thai iced tea.  We started with steamed vegetable dumplings – 90 calories for four.  The dumplings arrived within minutes.  I went first.  I dunked my little fella in the sauce and took a bite.  It was piping hot, and a little bit spicy, and 100% delicious.  Kristina concurred.

For entrees she ordered chicken with sauteed eggplant.  I ordered rice noodles with chicken in a yellow curry broth soup.  The meal was divine.  Simple, hot, delicious.  Can’t go wrong.  or could you?  Just kidding.  There really was nothing wrong with this place.

I assumed the bill would come to around $30, and I was right.  They take credit cards, so no worries if you’re not carrying enough cash.
